Garden Ridge is often called Northwest Regina's “hidden gem.” Tucked quietly between Walsh Acres and Lakeridge, this small, established neighbourhood offers the best of both worlds. Developed primarily in the 1980s and 1990s, it combines the mature landscaping and large lots of an older community with the modern amenities of the North End. With minimal through-traffic and winding crescents, it is one of the safest and quietest enclaves in the city.
Garden Ridge — mature crescents minutes from Rochdale.
The defining feature of Garden Ridge is its peace and quiet. Because it doesn't have major thoroughfares cutting through it, traffic is almost exclusively local residents. Yet, you are only a 2-minute drive from the Rochdale Boulevard commercial strip, giving you instant access to Superstore, Walmart, and the Northwest Leisure Centre.
Garden Ridge real estate typically features homes built between 1980 and 1995. You will find a mix of sturdy bungalows, 4-level splits, and 2-storey homes.
Unlike some newer subdivisions where trees are still saplings, Garden Ridge lives up to its name with beautiful mature tree canopies. The lots are generally generous in size, offering private backyards that are hard to find in brand-new developments.
While there are no schools directly inside the small borders of Garden Ridge, it is served by excellent options just blocks away in Walsh Acres:
High school students are in the catchment for Winston Knoll Collegiate and Michael A. Riffel High School, both located just across Rochdale Blvd.
Broker's Market Note
Garden Ridge is a “low turnover” area. Residents tend to stay here for a long time, so inventory can be scarce. When a well-maintained split-level or bungalow hits the market, it often attracts quick attention from families looking for a “forever home” location that doesn't need immediate renovation.
These two neighbourhoods are side-by-side, but Garden Ridge is slightly newer. While Walsh Acres was developed in the 70s, Garden Ridge is largely 80s and 90s construction. This means you might find more modern features like vaulted ceilings or ensuite bathrooms in Garden Ridge homes compared to the standard bungalows of Walsh Acres.
Garden Ridge is an education hub for the North End. It is home to George Lee School (Public) and served by St. Bernadette School (Catholic). Because these schools are located centrally within the nearby area, many children can walk to class without crossing major traffic arteries.
Residents are steps away from the Rochdale Boulevard commercial corridor. You can walk or make a 2-minute drive to the Northwest YMCA, the Superstore, Walmart, and virtually every bank and restaurant chain, making it one of the most amenity-rich areas in Regina.
It offers arguably the best commute in the North West. Garden Ridge sits directly adjacent to Lewvan Drive (Pasqua Street), allowing residents to shoot straight south to the Airport or Downtown in 15 minutes, bypassing the congestion often found deeper in the eastern or northern residential grids.
