Rosewood: questions, answered
The primary difference is the age of construction. Maple Ridge is an established neighbourhood built mostly in the 1990s and early 2000s, featuring mature trees, finished basements, and traditional bi-level or bungalow styles. Rosewood, located just west across Courtney Street, is a newer development (2010s onward) featuring modern architectural styles and contemporary open-concept floor plans.
This is the biggest advantage Rosewood has over its neighbour, Maple Ridge. Rosewood is home to the massive joint-use facility housing Plainsview School (Public) and St. Nicholas School (Catholic). While children in Maple Ridge must be bussed or driven, children in Rosewood can often walk directly to these modern schools.
Rosewood offers easier access to the western edge of the city than almost any other northern neighbourhood. Being located west of Courtney Street means you have immediate access to the Regina Bypass and Highway 11 via the Pinkie Road interchange, allowing you to get to the south end or out of the city without hitting a single traffic light.
